 Dr. Stephanie Pinder-Amaker PhD | McLean Hospital Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Director, College Mental Health Program | Dr. Pinder-Amaker has over 25 years of experience in college student mental health treatment, administration, and policy. She is the founding director of McLean Hospital’s College Mental Health Program, a unique initiative serving students from over 200 institutions of higher education, providing student-focused treatment; consultation to students, parents, and college professionals, and nonprofits; and related research.  Dr. R. Kathryn(Kate) McHugh PhD | McLean Hospital Director, Stress, Anxiety, and Substance Use Laboratory Associate Psychologist, Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction | R. Kathryn McHugh, PhD, engages in clinical and translational research focusing on the nature and treatment of anxiety and addiction. She is particularly interested in the study of affective vulnerability factors, such as distress intolerance and stress reactivity, that are common across psychological disorders, with a focus on those that can be modified with treatment. Additionally, Dr. McHugh conducts research on the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments, with a particular focus on behavioral therapies. Dr. McHugh is a recipient of several national awards, such as the David Shakow Early Career Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Clinical Psychology from the American Psychological Association. Her current research is funded by grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. She serves on several journal editorial boards and is an associate editor of Behavior Therapy.  Dr. Marisa Silveri, PhD | McLean Hospital Director, Neurodevelopmental Laboratory on Addictions and Mental Health Associate Professor of Psychiatry | Marisa M. Silveri, PhD, has been studying the neurobiology of brain development and consequences of alcohol and drug abuse using preclinical and clinical models for over two decades. Her current work uses non-invasive magnetic resonance techniques to examine brain structure, function, and neurochemistry, focusing on consequences of alcohol use and abuse. Dr. Silveri is a recipient of awards from the Research Society on Alcoholism and the College of Problems on Drug Dependence.  Dr. Stephanie Maddox, Ph.D | McLean Hospital Assistant Neuroscientist, Neurobiology of Fear Laboratory Director, Brains Matter Instructor in Psychiatry | Stephanie A. Maddox, PhD, is an assistant neuroscientist in the Neurobiology of Fear Laboratory at McLean Hospital, where she is actively investigating the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms which underlie mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, employing a combination of behavioral, pharmacological, and molecular manipulations. Dr. Maddox is actively investigating the role that hormone signaling cascades play in mediating the neurobiological and circuit-level mechanisms that contribute to these disorders as well as examining mechanisms associated with responses to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Dr. Maddox also maintains an interest in public science outreach and education. She is the co-founder and current director of McLean’s “Brains Matter” Neuroscience Education and Outreach Program which conducts presentations for audiences of all ages to engage in conversations about the biological basis of mental illness as a means to alleviate mental health stigma. | Brain Matters Presentation |
